Coronation Street Doug disturbed by Jodie’s fixation on David

Doug becomes increasingly alarmed by Jodie in this week after witnessing behaviour that leaves him deeply uncomfortable.

Doug has only just returned to Weatherfield when he catches Jodie pretending to be Shona. The sight is disturbing enough, but what really troubles him is the way Jodie appears to look at David.

Having returned amid growing concern about Jodie’s recent actions, Doug suddenly has a close-up view of just how unusual her behaviour has become.

Jodie has already secretly entered Sarah’s flat, overheard private information and started using what she discovered against Bethany. She has also arranged a prison visit with Sarah because she claims she has something important to reveal.

Doug’s discovery brings another worrying element into the story. His reaction suggests that even someone close enough to Jodie to know her well is unsettled by what he sees. Rather than dismissing her actions as a joke or harmless imitation, Doug becomes disturbed by both the impersonation and her attention towards David.

It also places him in an awkward position. Doug has returned hoping to rebuild his relationship with Shona, yet he may now find himself forced to address Jodie’s behaviour at exactly the wrong time.

Shona already has plenty to deal with following her father’s unexpected arrival. Discovering that Doug has concerns about Jodie could leave her facing another difficult family problem.

Jodie has managed to keep other people guessing about what she is really planning, but Doug may have just witnessed something she never intended him to see.
