Coronation Street Bernie could discover Kit’s cancer secret

Kit’s determination to keep his breast cancer diagnosis from his family becomes increasingly difficult in upcoming Coronation Street scenes, and Bernie could be the person who finally realises something is seriously wrong.

Todd already knows what Kit is facing, but Kit has so far resisted telling the rest of his loved ones. Instead, he continues drinking, throws himself into work and tries to deal with everything largely alone.

His behaviour is becoming increasingly difficult to hide. After problems at work, Kit later turns up at a family meal with a black eye, immediately giving Bernie another reason to worry about her son.

The conversation around the table then becomes particularly painful for Kit when Bernie begins discussing genetic testing. Following cancer within their family, she wants to find out whether they could have inherited a gene which increases their own risk.

Kit is therefore forced to sit silently while his family talks openly about the very illness he is currently hiding from them.

There is nothing yet confirming Bernie discovers the truth during this particular conversation, but she is already watching Kit carefully. His drinking, injuries and noticeably changed behaviour could eventually become impossible for her to ignore.

Kit has been trying to protect his family from what he is going through, but the secret appears to be adding another burden at a time when he needs support himself.

With Todd already encouraging him to open up, Bernie may soon begin asking questions Kit can no longer avoid.

Coronation Street continues on ITV1 and ITVX. Upcoming episodes will reveal what happens next.
