Coronation Street and Emmerdale move aside for football on 6 October
Coronation Street and Emmerdale make way for football on Tuesday 6 October. Find out when both soaps return and next week’s ITV1 times.
Coronation Street and Emmerdale will be absent from ITV1 on Tuesday 6 October 2026 as live football takes over their usual evening slots. Both soaps return on Wednesday 7 October, with Emmerdale at 8pm and Coronation Street at 8.30pm.
ITV1 will show England’s home match against the Czechia at Wembley Stadium. Coverage begins at 7pm ahead of the 7.45pm kick-off and continues until 10.05pm, followed by the evening news.
The match is part of the UEFA Nations League, a competition between European national teams. Its place in Tuesday’s schedule means neither soap will air later that evening.
Viewers can watch Coronation Street and Emmerdale on ITV1, with episodes also available on ITVX. New episodes normally arrive on ITVX at 7am on their broadcast day, allowing viewers to watch before the evening transmission.
