Coronation Street 11 to 16 October Sarah faces trial

Sarah Barlow faces court in Coronation Street as her trial begins and those closest to her become increasingly caught up in the case.

Before proceedings start, Bethany and Todd visit Sarah. When Sarah says she understands Kit’s decision not to help her, Todd blurts out that Kit has breast cancer, leaving Bethany horrified and Sarah reeling.

At the hospital, Kit finds support from Bernie as they talk about stories from his childhood. He then prepares for his first chemotherapy session as Brody arrives to see him.

Once Sarah’s trial begins, Todd takes the stand and defends her. Bethany later becomes upset and hurries out of the courtroom, before returning home and putting pressure on Kit to do the right thing.

Sarah eventually has her own turn to give evidence. The details of what she tells the court and the outcome of the trial are not revealed in the weekly information.

Elsewhere, a food poisoning crisis hits the bistro when Tracy accuses Leanne of poisoning her family with undercooked food. Idris fields complaints from angry customers suffering from food poisoning, while Ollie carries out a full inspection of the kitchen and discovers that all the meat served the previous night was past its sell-by date.

Leanne realises Nick was responsible for the delivery. Questions remain over whether it was an honest mistake or whether Nick could be sabotaging their business, while he later admits they can no longer afford their meat supplier and have been reduced to buying meat from Freshco.

Leanne suggests cutting their losses and selling the business, but Toyah confronts her with another accusation. She claims Leanne and Idris are trying to sabotage the bistro themselves so they can buy it for a knock-down price.

Idris later winds Nick up at Speed Daal by suggesting both his relationship with Sam and his business are on their knees. Meanwhile, Debbie becomes suspicious when she sees Ronnie talking with Ryan after Ronnie thanks him for finding work to keep her busy.

Debbie later tells Abi she is convinced Ronnie is seeing somebody else and planning to put her into a care home. Abi subsequently sees Ronnie in Victoria Garden with his arms around another woman.

Ross also returns from the local boxing gym and suggests to Tyrone that they should go every week. Tyrone declines, leaving Ross annoyed.

Sarah’s day in court is at the centre of a week filled with difficult decisions, accusations and unanswered questions across Weatherfield.
