Camp Wonder Saga creator on bringing LGBTQ+ fantasy to life with AI

For fans of supernatural fantasy, romance and LGBTQ+ storytelling,

The Camp Wonder Saga brings together werewolves, magic, mystery and a growing family of characters whose relationships are just as important as the dangers they face.

Created by independent author Francois Stroebel, the story began as a book before expanding into AI-generated visual episodes, allowing readers to experience the characters and their world in a different way.

At the centre of the saga are Marc Carter and Earl Rowan, whose relationship provides much of its emotional heart, alongside the mischievous Dunn Fisher and a wider cast of supernatural characters.

SoapLandTV spoke exclusively to Francois about the inspiration behind Camp Wonder, the importance of LGBTQ+ representation, the opportunities offered by AI technology and what audiences can expect as the story continues.

For readers discovering Camp Wonder Saga for the first time, how would you describe the story?

The Camp Wonder Saga is an LGBTQ+ supernatural fantasy series that blends romance, mystery, magic, action, and a little bit of chaos!

At the heart of the story is Marc Carter, a young man whose life takes an extraordinary turn when he discovers that the world is far bigger, stranger, and more dangerous than he ever imagined.

His journey leads him to Camp Wonder, a sanctuary for supernatural beings, where he discovers friendship, a family he never expected, and a love that will change his life forever.

Along the way, Marc meets Earl Rowan, a powerful werewolf with a complicated past, and Dunn Fisher, whose humour and loyalty bring warmth to even the darkest moments.

But Camp Wonder is more than a place of magic and supernatural creatures. It’s a story about discovering who you are, finding the courage to embrace what makes you different, and realizing that family isn’t always the one you’re born into.

There are secrets to uncover, powerful enemies to face, relationships to fight for, and plenty of moments that will make you laugh, cry, and hopefully fall in love with the characters.

Above all, Camp Wonder is a place where everyone deserves to belong.

What inspired you to create Camp Wonder Saga, and how did the idea first come about?

Growing up, I absolutely loved supernatural stories. The magic, the mystery, the creatures, the romance, and the incredible worlds that writers could create always fascinated me. But as much as I loved those stories, I often felt that something was missing. I wanted a supernatural world that truly had room for everyone.

That became the inspiration behind The Camp Wonder Saga.

I wanted to create more than just another supernatural fantasy. I wanted to build a place where everyone could feel welcome, where love wasn’t limited by who you were, and where readers from different backgrounds could find characters they connected with.

Camp Wonder is a place where friendships become family, where being different doesn’t mean you don’t belong, and where everyone deserves the chance to love and be loved.

Of course, there is magic, danger, romance, heartbreak, and plenty of chaos along the way! But underneath all of that is something very simple: the desire to belong.

I wanted readers to fall in love not only with Marc, Earl, Dunn, and the other characters, but with Camp Wonder itself. I wanted it to feel like somewhere they could escape to, somewhere they would want to return to, and maybe even somewhere they wished existed in real life.

Because at the heart of it all, Camp Wonder was created around one belief: Everyone deserves a place where they belong.

Can you introduce us to the main characters and their relationships?

Where do I even begin? 😂 Camp Wonder has become home to so many characters, and each of them holds a special place in my heart.

At the centre of everything is Marc Carter, a young man who arrives at Camp Wonder without fully understanding who he is or what he’s capable of. Marc is compassionate, sometimes stubborn, and often finds himself carrying responsibilities he never asked for. Despite the extraordinary powers and dangers surrounding him, what makes Marc special to me is his humanity. He wants to protect the people he loves, even when he’s still figuring out how to protect himself.

Then there’s Earl Rowan, our powerful, protective werewolf with a rather intimidating exterior and a surprisingly gentle heart. Earl is strong, loyal, and not always the best at expressing his feelings. But when it comes to Marc, we see a completely different side of him. Their relationship is one of the emotional foundations of the series. It’s about trust, vulnerability, learning to love, and discovering that even the strongest people need someone they can lean on.

And, of course, we have Dunn Fisher! 🤣 Where would Camp Wonder be without Dunn? He’s our lovable troublemaker, the guy who can turn the simplest task into absolute chaos. But beneath all the jokes and ridiculous situations is someone incredibly loyal and caring. His friendship with Marc is one of my favourite relationships to write. They’re practically brothers, and their adventures together have become some of the most entertaining moments in the series.

We also have Silver, a werewolf with a more reserved personality who is slowly discovering his own path. He’s someone who reminds us that even when life doesn’t go according to plan, there’s always an opportunity for a new beginning.

And then there’s Rafael, one of our newer additions to the Camp Wonder family. He’s a charming, confident, playful kitsune who has already managed to turn quite a few heads! Rafael brings a different kind of supernatural magic to the camp, along with plenty of flirting, humour, and a few surprises I’m keeping to myself for now. 🤣

But what I love most about Camp Wonder is that it isn’t just about individual characters or romantic relationships. It’s about the connections between everyone. The friendships, the teasing, the arguments, the sacrifices, and those quiet moments when someone simply needs a friend.

Some characters find romance, others find friendship, and some discover a family they never knew they needed.

And I think that’s what makes Camp Wonder special. Every character has their own story, but together, they create a family.

What made you decide to tell this story using AI-generated visuals?

Camp Wonder started as a book, and as a writer, I’ve always imagined what it would be like to see my characters and their world come to life.

As an independent author, I don’t have a Hollywood budget or a production studio behind me. AI technology gave me the opportunity to bring my imagination to the screen and share Camp Wonder in a completely different way.

It’s definitely not always easy! 😂 Getting the characters, emotions, and scenes just right takes a lot of patience and creativity.

But what makes it worthwhile is seeing readers and viewers connect with these characters. The AI visuals don’t replace my writing; they bring another dimension to it.

At the end of the day, the heart of Camp Wonder will always be its stories and the people who fall in love with them.

What has been the biggest challenge in bringing the characters and their world to life?

Without a doubt, seeing people fall in love with the characters and the world I’ve created.

When I first started writing Camp Wonder, I never imagined that one day thousands of people would be watching these characters, discussing their relationships, laughing at Dunn’s ridiculous adventures, or cheering for Marc and Earl.

What makes it even more special is the community that’s growing around the series. People share their thoughts, ask questions, express their concerns, and genuinely care about what happens next.

As a writer, there’s no greater feeling than knowing something that started in your imagination has found a place in someone else’s heart.

And honestly, we’re only getting started! 😂

Is there a particular character, scene or storyline that means something special to you?

LGBTQ+ representation is incredibly important to me because it’s one of the reasons I created Camp Wonder in the first place.

Growing up, I loved supernatural stories, but I wanted to see more characters and relationships that reflected the diversity of the real world.

With Camp Wonder, I wanted to create a place where love is simply love, where characters can be themselves without having to justify who they are, and where everyone has a chance to find happiness.

But I also wanted these characters to be more than their identities. They have strengths, flaws, dreams, friendships, and their own battles to fight.

My hope is that readers see themselves in these characters and feel that they belong.

Because everyone deserves to be the hero of their own story, and everyone deserves a love story worth telling.

What can fans look forward to in the upcoming episodes, without giving too much away?

Oh, there’s so much more coming! 😂

Camp Wonder is a world that continues to grow, and I have so many stories I still want to tell.

Fans can look forward to new characters, unexpected relationships, deeper supernatural mysteries, and plenty of romance, action, and, of course, Dunn getting himself into trouble!

I’m also excited to explore more of the characters’ individual journeys while continuing the bigger story through the books and visual episodes.

There will be surprises, emotional moments, and probably a few things that will leave fans shouting at their screens! 😂

All I can say is that Camp Wonder’s story is far from over, and the best is still to come.

Where can readers watch Camp Wonder Saga and follow your work? And is there anything else you’d like our readers to know?

First, I want to say thank you. From the bottom of my heart, thank you to everyone who has watched, liked, shared, commented, or simply taken a moment to step into the world of Camp Wonder.

When I started writing this story, I never imagined it would reach so many people. Seeing you fall in love with the characters, laugh with them, worry about them, and celebrate their happiness means more to me than I can express.

To anyone discovering Camp Wonder for the first time, welcome! Whether you’re here for the romance, the supernatural adventures, the friendships, or just Dunn causing absolute chaos, there’s a place for you here.

Camp Wonder was created with one simple belief: everyone deserves somewhere they belong.

And to everyone who has supported this journey so far, remember that you’re part of the Camp Wonder family now.
