Brian Packham and Maggie Driscoll cause quite a stir in Coronation Street when their unexpected night together is exposed, leaving Brian wondering whether a new romance could be beginning.
After spending the night at Maggie’s, Brian is caught in a rather awkward situation when he is discovered there the following morning in his pyjamas. It does not take long for questions to be asked about exactly what has happened between the pair.
Brian appears delighted by the unexpected development and is keen to see Maggie again. However, while he may already be wondering whether their night together could lead somewhere, Maggie initially seems much less enthusiastic about turning it into anything serious.
Things become particularly uncomfortable for Brian when he overhears Maggie apparently discussing their night together and making it sound as though she was far from impressed.
Her comments leave Brian crushed, especially after he had clearly hoped there might be another date on the cards.
However, Maggie may not be quite as uninterested as she wants everyone to believe. Her dismissive attitude appears to hide more complicated feelings, suggesting Brian should perhaps not give up on their unexpected connection just yet.
Maggie later heads to the Rovers and apologises to Brian, offering some hope that their night together has not completely ended any possibility of something developing between them.
Glenda also starts to suspect that there may be more going on between Brian and Maggie than either of them is admitting. With their secret already proving difficult to keep quiet, the pair could find themselves facing even more questions about what their night together actually means.
For Brian, the possibility of romance appears to have arrived when he least expected it. His enthusiasm may be running ahead of Maggie’s, but her decision to seek him out afterwards suggests the situation is not necessarily as straightforward as her earlier comments made it seem.
Whether Maggie is ready to admit how she really feels remains another matter, but their unexpected night together could prove to be the beginning of a surprising new chapter for both of them.
