Adults star Owen Thiele has revealed he would love to see Anton Evans and Paul Baker take their relationship further, admitting he has been kept in the dark about whether the couple will finally get their happy ending.
The actor, who plays Anton in the FX comedy, believes the writers are deliberately keeping their plans secret because they know how excited the cast are about the characters' future. With a third season yet to be confirmed, Thiele is just as curious as viewers about what happens next.
Could Anton and Paul finally get married for love?
Anton and Paul's relationship has become one of the most talked-about storylines in Adults, particularly among LGBTQ+ viewers following their unconventional romance.
The pair originally entered a green card marriage to allow Paul, played by Jack Innanen, to remain in the United States. What began as a practical arrangement has gradually developed into a much more complicated relationship, with genuine feelings emerging between them.
Season two continued their marriage of convenience while introducing further complications involving Issa, played by Amita Rao.
Thiele has now admitted that he would happily see Anton and Paul make their marriage official for romantic reasons rather than immigration paperwork.
Speaking about the possibility of another season, he joked that the writers were wise not to reveal their plans because he would immediately tell people that the characters were going to end up together and get married.

Although Thiele is rooting for the couple, he also recognises that Anton might not be the easiest person to share a home with.
The actor described his character as someone who frequently shouts, but believes Anton and Paul have developed a more open and honest way of communicating as their relationship has progressed.
That emotional development has helped turn their original arrangement into something more meaningful, giving the writers plenty of opportunities to explore what a genuine romantic commitment might look like.
It also leaves an interesting question for a possible third season. After marrying for practical reasons, could Anton and Paul eventually choose each other for love?
Will Adults return for season three?
FX has not yet announced whether Adults will return for a third season, meaning Anton and Paul's future is currently uncertain.
However, the series has previously experienced a gap between its broadcast and renewal announcements. The first season premiered in May 2025, with a second season confirmed in October that year.
Season two premiered in the United States on 27 August 2026 before becoming available to UK viewers on Disney+.
The comedy, created by Ben Kronengold and Rebecca Shaw, follows a group of twenty-something friends navigating relationships, friendships and adult responsibilities while living together in Queens, New York.

For now, Thiele's hopes for a romantic future remain just that, rather than confirmation of what the writers have planned.
