Wild Horse Nine has released its final trailer, introducing two American intelligence officers whose mission takes them from Santiago to Easter Island. John Malkovich and Sam Rockwell lead the cast of the new film from The Banshees of Inisherin writer and director Martin McDonagh.

The story takes place shortly before the 1973 military coup in Chile. John plays Chris and Sam plays Lee, longtime CIA partners sent to the island by their bureau chief MJ, played by Steve Buscemi.

Their assignment brings them up against both present conspiracies and unresolved events from their past. Chris’s growing connection with two rebellious students, played by Mariana di Girolamo and Ailín Salas, threatens to complicate the trip further.

Martin’s previous films include In Bruges and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, alongside The Banshees of Inisherin. Wild Horse Nine moves his next story to a politically charged setting, with the agents’ personal history adding another layer to their assignment.

The trailer was released on 23 September, following the film’s appearances at the Venice and Toronto festivals. Martin has reunited with Searchlight Pictures, Blueprint Pictures and Film4 for the project after their collaboration on The Banshees of Inisherin.
