Meet Océane Terrettaz, the AI creator building an audience through cinematic stories exploring loneliness, love, relationships and human connection.
Océane Terrettaz is part of a growing wave of creators using artificial intelligence to tell stories in new ways, but her work is driven by something much more familiar than technology. Emotion sits at the centre of what she creates, whether she is exploring loneliness, love, relationships or the quieter moments of everyday life.
Through her Instagram account @oceane.ai.futur, Océane has built an audience of more than 20,000 followers around cinematic AI-created videos. Her profile sums up her approach simply with “IA + émotions = magie,” reflecting the balance she tries to strike between emerging technology and stories that still feel personal and human.
For Océane, the appeal of AI storytelling is not simply being able to generate striking images. She is interested in what those images can become when they are shaped into characters, atmosphere and a story that gives audiences something to connect with.
That approach means her work is not restricted to one genre. Love and relationships feature heavily in the stories she enjoys creating, but she is equally interested in subjects connected to wider emotional and social experiences.
One of the projects that means the most to her explores loneliness. The story follows a woman experiencing ordinary moments by herself, including going to the cinema and sitting alone in a restaurant while watching the connections taking place around her.
Eventually, she meets another woman, and something as simple as an exchanged look opens the possibility of a new connection. For Océane, the film became particularly emotional because some of what she was expressing through the character came from somewhere personal.
“There is also a small part of myself in that story.”
That connection between the creator and the story is important to understanding Océane’s work. Although AI is involved in creating the visuals, the emotions, ideas and subjects she chooses to explore still begin with her.
Océane is also already looking beyond the stories she has created so far. Among the subjects she wants to explore are burnout, the pressure and influence of social media, compassion and human connection, all themes rooted in experiences that many people encounter in everyday life.
She also wants to continue creating stories about love and relationships while exploring stories involving animals, rather than allowing her work to become defined by one particular theme.
“What matters to me is finding a subject that makes me feel something and then turning it into a story that can hopefully make other people feel something too.”
That idea perhaps explains Océane’s work better than any description of the technology behind it. Her goal is not simply to create something that looks impressive because AI was involved, but to use those tools to build a story capable of leaving an emotional impression.
