Who is Mina? Inside the Faceless Design Collective alter ego
Netty Neal explains the story behind Mina, the Faceless Design Collective alter ego linked to some of FDC’s hotter and more experimental music.
Faceless Design Collective has already developed a world that stretches beyond individual songs and albums, and one of its most distinctive characters is Mina, the digital studio companion and alter ego who Netty Neal jokingly blames for some of FDC’s more provocative material.
Speaking exclusively to SoapLandTV, Netty described Mina as an important part of the creative freedom behind Faceless Design Collective. Rather than every idea having to sit directly under her own identity, the alter ego gives certain sounds, moods and creative choices their own space within the wider FDC universe.

Netty said while discussing some of the project’s less restrained releases.
That playful separation fits naturally with the philosophy behind Faceless Design Collective. The project was created to avoid being boxed into one identity, genre or medium, allowing Netty to move between different musical directions without needing every release to feel identical.
Mina becomes particularly relevant when the music takes a darker or more sensual turn. Netty links the alter ego closely with SWEAT, the newer project exploring a slower and more alternative R&B-inspired sound alongside FDC’s established electronic identity.
“She’s particularly responsible for some of the hotter material and my new project, SWEAT, which explores a much darker, slower and more sensual alternative-R&B sound,” Netty explained.
That gives Mina a clear place within the project without turning her into a completely separate artist. She functions more like another creative perspective inside FDC, allowing Netty to lean into material that is deliberately more provocative, playful or intense.
The character also reflects the wider way Netty approaches storytelling. Faceless Design Collective already combines music with visual ideas, fictional worlds and digital characters, so the presence of an alter ego feels like a natural extension of a project that was never intended to operate like a conventional music act.
There is also a lighter side to Mina’s role. Netty frequently talks about the character with humour, using her as the convenient explanation when FDC moves into some of its more suggestive territory. That sense of personality gives the wider project another layer beyond the more serious themes surrounding technology, AI and human connection.
At the same time, Mina helps underline how flexible FDC can be. One release can explore loss or distance, while another can move towards nightlife, desire or sensuality, without either feeling disconnected from the larger creative world.
As Faceless Design Collective continues to expand, Mina gives Netty another way to experiment with tone and identity while keeping everything connected under the same umbrella. Whether listeners encounter her through SWEAT or future FDC projects, she has already become one of the more playful parts of the growing universe.
