What Is Icebreaker Series WLW? Meet the AI-Created Romance Building a Huge Following Online

Icebreaker is an independent WLW slow-burn romance following Captain Ana Malik and videographer Noémie Morin aboard the Arctic research vessel Polaris.

Created using AI-assisted production, the series has quickly found an audience across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and YouTube.

The story centres on two women with very different personalities who are forced to spend an extended period living and working together. What begins with professional clashes develops through quieter moments as Ana and Noémie start noticing sides of each other they did not expect to find.

What is Icebreaker about?

Noémie Morin joins the Polaris expedition as a videographer hired to document the mission. Her arrival puts her directly into the world of Captain Ana Malik, a disciplined commander who values rules, protocol and control.

Ana is guarded and intensely professional, while Noémie is more open and willing to question her. The confined environment aboard the Polaris means their disagreements cannot simply end with either woman walking away.

That forced proximity becomes the foundation of the story, giving them opportunities to see beyond their initial assumptions. The Arctic setting also separates them from ordinary life, placing the developing relationship firmly at the centre of their time aboard the ship.

Who are Ana Malik and Noémie Morin?

Ana carries the responsibility of commanding the Polaris and rarely allows emotion to interfere with her work. Even when she begins to reveal more of herself, she has a habit of retreating behind professional boundaries.

Noémie approaches people very differently and gradually begins to recognise that there is considerably more to Ana than the strict captain she first encountered. Their differences create the tension that drives the relationship, but they also begin to explain why the two women work so well together.

We will explore both characters in much greater depth in a separate SoaplandTV character feature, including what the creator has told us about the parts of herself she recognises in Ana and Noémie.

A WLW romance without unhealthy relationship dynamics

The creator Gen told SoaplandTV that Icebreaker developed partly from her interest in the growing number of short-form series appearing online. However, she found that many romantic stories relied heavily on coercion, manipulation or unhealthy power dynamics.

“That wasn’t the kind of love story between women that I wanted to tell. I wanted to explore a relationship where the tension comes from two very different people learning to understand each other, rather than from one person controlling or manipulating the other.”

The relationship between Ana and Noémie is therefore the heart of the series rather than a secondary storyline. Their attraction develops through conversation, hesitation, disagreements and small acts of care instead of being pushed forward simply to reach the next romantic moment.

How is Icebreaker made?

Icebreaker is an independent AI-assisted production, but its creator Gen writes the story, characters and dialogue and directs the individual scenes. She also makes decisions about performances, camera angles, clothing, locations and visual details before completing the post-production herself.

She brings 24 years of video-production experience to the project, including work across music, television advertising, editing, sound design and post-production coordination.

The project itself is still very young. When she spoke to SoaplandTV, the creator said she had only started producing Icebreaker around a month and a half earlier.

The amount of material released each week has already increased. She initially produced around three minutes of Icebreaker each week, while newer releases are closer to six minutes.

Icebreaker is growing across social media

Icebreaker has built audiences across several platforms rather than relying on a single home.

At the time of writing, its Instagram account @icebreakerserieswlw has 12.9K followers, while the Icebreaker Series Facebook page has reached 10K followers. TikTok account @icebreakerwlw has more than 4,200 followers and 27.5K likes.

Individual videos have also attracted substantial audiences. TikTok posts shown on the official account have passed 100,000 views, while Facebook reels have reached more than 80,000 views.

How many Icebreaker episodes are available?

The first season currently runs through Episode 29 and is still being made as viewers follow the story.

YouTube provides the simplest catch-up option because episodes are grouped into longer collections covering Episodes 1 to 10, 11 to 14, 15 to 18, 19 to 23, 24 to 27 and 28 to 29.

The creator already has a second season in mind, so Ana and Noémie’s story is intended to continue beyond the current run.

Where can you watch Icebreaker?

Icebreaker can be followed through its official YouTube, Instagram, TikTok and Facebook accounts. YouTube is particularly useful for watching the story from the beginning, while the other platforms provide shorter releases, clips and updates.

For viewers discovering the series now, starting with the earliest episodes gives the developing relationship between Ana and Noémie much more impact as their initial clashes gradually give way to something far more personal.
