Among the additions to the third season are Game of Thrones star Lena Headey, St. Elmo’s Fire actor Andrew McCarthy and Ted Lasso’s James Lance. All three were announced as guest stars in April, with their characters still being kept under wraps.

They join a wider group of newcomers that includes Stranger Things star Winona Ryder, alongside Chris Sarandon, Noah Taylor, Oscar Morgan and Kennedy Moyer. Their arrival will bring fresh faces into a season whose creators have already promised new students and teachers.

Eva Green also joins the cast as Ophelia Frump, Morticia Addams’ sister and Wednesday’s aunt. Her casting gives a face to one of the family’s most mysterious figures, with the next season set to reveal more about the Addams family’s past.

Green’s involvement reunites her with director and executive producer Tim Burton, following their work together on Dark Shadows and Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. Ryder is another returning Burton collaborator, having worked with him on Beetlejuice and Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.

There will be plenty of familiar Wednesday faces alongside the newcomers. Emma Myers returns as Enid Sinclair, with Hunter Doohan as Tyler Galpin and Joy Sunday as Bianca Barclay.

Catherine Zeta-Jones and Luis Guzmán are back as Morticia and Gomez Addams, while Isaac Ordonez returns as Pugsley. The returning cast also includes Billie Piper as Isadora Capri, Joanna Lumley as Grandmama Hester Frump and Fred Armisen as Uncle Fester.

Creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar have said the new episodes will explore the characters further while broadening Wednesday’s world.

More Addams family members and family secrets are promised, but the central mystery remains under wraps.
