VisionQuest trailer reunites Vision and Tommy as Ultron returns

VisionQuest’s new trailer brings Vision and Tommy together as the former Avenger searches for the young man who could be his son. The superhero science-fiction series stars Paul Bettany and launches on Disney+ with two episodes on Wednesday 14 October.

Vision is an artificial man who became one of the Avengers and fell in love with Wanda Maximoff, also known as the Scarlet Witch. Their relationship was at the heart of WandaVision, which introduced their twin sons, Billy and Tommy, within a world Wanda created through her magic.

The new series follows a rebuilt version of Vision, whose original body was killed by Thanos in Avengers Infinity War. Although he has recovered his earlier memories, remembering his past is not the same as feeling connected to the people he once loved.

That leaves him trying to understand who he is and whether he can recover a sense of belonging. The arrival of a young man with memories of being his son makes that search far more personal.

Watch the official trailer:

Ruaridh Mollica plays Thomas Shepherd, who may be Tommy reincarnated, meaning returned to life in another body. In the trailer, Thomas remembers having a mother and father but struggles to understand memories that seem to belong to someone else.

His possible connection to Vision drives the new story, although exactly who he is remains a mystery. Vision must uncover the truth while protecting himself and his young companion from those pursuing them.

After escaping the people who wanted to turn him into a weapon, Vision has been living in hiding. A bounty placed on his head forces him back into danger and sends him on the run with Thomas.

Finding answers also means turning to someone with a troubling connection to his own beginnings. James Spader returns as Ultron, the artificial intelligence villain last seen battling Earth’s heroes in Avengers Age of Ultron.

Ultron helped create the body that became Vision, giving their relationship its own complicated father-and-son history. Now a version of his personality exists within Vision’s programming, where he can speak to him and influence his thinking.

The trailer shows Ultron taunting Vision as he tries to make sense of his past. Despite that hostility, Vision needs his help to understand Thomas, bringing the three characters into a story about identity, memory and family.

Other artificial intelligence personalities within Vision’s programming include J.A.R.V.I.S., F.R.I.D.A.Y. and E.D.I.T.H., systems familiar from earlier Avengers and Spider-Man films. Their presence gives the series another way to explore what makes up Vision’s mind as he searches for a new purpose.

VisionQuest completes the television trilogy that began with WandaVision in 2021 and continued with Agatha All Along in 2024. While Agatha All Along explored Billy’s story, the new series turns its attention to Vision and the mystery surrounding Tommy.
