Kelly Rowland joins The Voice UK
Former Destiny’s Child star Kelly Rowland is the big new addition to the coaching line-up, joining four familiar faces in the iconic red chairs.
Kelly brings considerable experience to the role, both as a hugely successful recording artist and as a television talent show judge. Her arrival gives the new series another major international name and creates a fresh dynamic alongside Tom Jones, will.i.am, Tom Fletcher and Danny Jones.
ITV’s newly released first look brings all five coaches together ahead of the show’s return, offering the first glimpse of the line-up viewers will see when the Blind Auditions begin.
The Voice UK introduces a new Rewind button
There is another significant addition this series, with The Voice UK introducing the Rewind button for the first time.
During the Blind Auditions, each coach will have one opportunity to use Rewind on an act who has completed their performance without receiving a chair turn.
If a coach decides they have made the wrong call, they can use their Rewind to bring the contestant back and offer them a place on their team after all.
Crucially, every coach only gets one Rewind, meaning they will have to decide carefully when to use it. Holding onto the button could mean missing an act they later regret losing, while using it early removes the opportunity to rescue another contestant later in the competition.
It adds a new tactical element to one of The Voice UK’s best-known stages while also giving selected singers an unexpected second opportunity.
Tom Jones, will.i.am, Tom Fletcher and Danny Jones return
Sir Tom Jones and will.i.am will once again take their places in the red chairs alongside McFly stars Tom Fletcher and Danny Jones.
The returning four coaches are now joined by Kelly, creating a five-strong coaching line-up for the new series.
Emma Willis also returns as host, continuing her long association with the ITV singing competition and guiding contestants through the different stages of their Voice UK journey.
When is The Voice UK back on ITV?
ITV has not yet confirmed the exact date for the new series, with the broadcaster currently saying The Voice UK is coming soon.
The programme will return on ITV1 and ITVX, as well as STV and STV Player in Scotland, with further scheduling details due to be announced.
With Kelly Rowland making her debut in the red chair and the Rewind button bringing a new decision for the coaches during the Blind Auditions, there will be plenty that feels different when the search for the next Voice UK winner begins.
