The celebrities are gone. The reputations are gone. Nobody arrives knowing which reality shows the person sitting opposite them has already won.

The Traitors: New Blood is about to place 22 complete strangers inside Alan Cumming’s Scottish castle and let suspicion do the rest.

Launching in America on September 17, 2026, the new NBC version of The Traitors takes the familiar format in a very different direction by using an entirely civilian cast.

More than 80,000 people applied. Only 22 are entering the castle.

Ordinary people face an extraordinary game

The New Blood contestants range in age from 23 to 65 and come from completely different walks of life. The cast includes nurses, lawyers, a funeral director, a dog groomer and an astrophysicist.

Once inside Ardross Castle in Scotland, they will be divided into Faithful and Traitors.

The Faithful must work out who is secretly deceiving them before they are removed from the game. The Traitors must survive every accusation, roundtable and banishment while secretly eliminating other contestants.

There is a prize worth up to $250,000 waiting at the end. The biggest difference is simple. These people have no established television personas to judge. Viewers and contestants have to learn who they are at exactly the same time.

Alan Cumming is back where he belongs

One familiar face remains firmly in control. Alan Cumming returns as host and executive producer, once again presiding over Ardross Castle with the extravagant clothing and theatrical presentation that have become inseparable from the American series.

Cumming also gives The Traitors a prominent LGBTQ+ figure right at its centre.

The Scottish actor has publicly identified as bisexual for decades and has repeatedly spoken about LGBTQ+ visibility throughout his career. He has also discussed pushing for stronger LGBTQ+ representation within The Traitors itself.

His presentation of the programme has embraced camp, androgyny and fashion without toning any of it down for a mainstream reality audience.

The castle remains in Scotland

New Blood continues filming at Ardross Castle in the Scottish Highlands, despite the contestants being American.

The location has become so strongly associated with the US version that removing it would almost feel like removing Cumming himself.

NBC launches New Blood with a two hour premiere on Thursday, September 17. Episodes will then be available to stream on Peacock from the following day, with the competition continuing on Thursday nights in America.

Can UK viewers watch The Traitors: New Blood?

This is where UK viewers need to wait.

No confirmed UK broadcaster or streaming date for New Blood has been announced at the time of publication.

There is a strong precedent for UK availability. The BBC brought The Traitors US series four to BBC Three and BBC iPlayer from June 18, 2026, several months after its American premiere.

That does not mean New Blood is automatically coming to the BBC, so it would be wrong to claim a UK release until one is officially announced.

The Traitors: New Blood premieres on NBC in America on September 17, 2026, with next day streaming on Peacock.

A UK release has not yet been confirmed. Keep checking SoapLandTV for UK viewing updates and more LGBTQ+ television coverage.
