The Gentlemen Season 2 hits Netflix UK No.1 as Season 1 surges back into chart

The Gentlemen Season 2 has wasted little time becoming one of Netflix’s biggest UK shows, with the new episodes debuting at number one in the official UK Netflix chart.

The second season launched on 3 September, and Netflix figures covering 31 August to 6 September put it straight at the top of the UK TV ranking. The return has also sent viewers back to the beginning, with Season 1 climbing all the way to number three during the same week.

That gives Guy Ritchie’s crime series an impressive double presence inside Netflix UK’s top three and suggests plenty of viewers are either catching up for the first time or going back through Eddie and Susie’s story after starting the new season.

Season 2 picks up a year after Eddie became the reluctant heir to his family estate and discovered the huge criminal operation running underneath it. This time, Eddie is no longer simply trying to survive a world he never expected to enter, with his ambitions growing considerably as he and Susie expand their operation.

Theo and Kaya are back at the centre of the series, while Ray returns as Bobby. Daniel, Joely, Vinnie and Giancarlo are also among the familiar faces appearing again as the criminal world surrounding Eddie becomes considerably bigger.

There are plenty of newcomers too, including Hugh, Maya, Benedetta, Benjamin and boxer Chris, while Season 2 takes the operation beyond its familiar British surroundings. The result is a larger international story while keeping the mix of crime, dark comedy, money and increasingly questionable decisions that made the first season such a success.

Anyone worried about investing another eight episodes into Eddie’s criminal empire can also watch knowing the story is not ending here.

Netflix has already officially confirmed The Gentlemen for Season 3, with the announcement arriving before the second season was released. Guy has said the ambition and world of the series have continued to expand, meaning Eddie and Susie still have considerably more trouble ahead.
