The Blame Trailer Teases Michelle Keegan’s Dark New ITV Crime Drama
ITV releases the first trailer for The Blame, a gripping new six-part crime drama starring Michelle Keegan and Douglas Booth, coming to ITV1 and ITVX this September.
ITV has released the first trailer for The Blame, giving viewers their biggest look yet at the new six-part crime thriller starring Michelle Keegan and Douglas Booth ahead of its arrival on ITV1 and ITVX this September.
Produced by Quay Street Productions, the team behind Fool Me Once and After the Flood, the drama takes viewers into the seemingly quiet town of Wakestead, where a tragic death quickly develops into a much bigger investigation involving secrets, suspicion and corruption.
Michelle plays DI Emma Crane alongside Douglas as DI Tom Radley. As the detectives investigate a death that sends shockwaves through the town, what begins as a murder enquiry grows increasingly complicated, uncovering lies, institutional cover-ups and difficult moral choices.
The investigation also places Emma under growing pressure as she is forced to deal not only with the case itself but with tensions and politics inside her own police team. The newly released trailer offers a first taste of that atmosphere, setting up a mystery in which trust could prove as important as the evidence.
The Blame has assembled a substantial supporting cast, with Ian Hart playing DCI Kenneth Walker and Nathan Mensah appearing as DC Lewis Brimah. Nigel Boyle plays digital forensic technician Neil Shergill, while Joe Armstrong takes the role of ice-skating coach Kyle Frasier and Matilda Freeman plays Sophie Madsen.
Gavin Spokes, Josh Bolt and Ceallach Spellman complete the Wakestead Police team as DC Joel Stevens, DC Douglas James and PC Callum Drummond respectively.
The six-part drama is adapted from Charlotte Langley’s debut novel of the same name, with Megan Gallagher developing the story for television and serving as lead writer and executive producer. Ashley Sanders and Namsi Khan also contribute to the series, while Bex Rycroft directs the opening three episodes and Claire Tailyour takes over for episodes four to six.
With its central murder mystery, police politics and a cast led by Michelle and Douglas, The Blame looks set to add another major crime drama to ITV’s autumn schedule. The first trailer is available to watch below ahead of the six-part series arriving in September.
