Temi Wilkey brings bisexual dating comedy Lover Girl to London
Temi Wilkey brings Lover Girl to London’s Soho Theatre with an autobiographical comedy about bisexual dating, romance and being single.
Temi Wilkey is bringing Lover Girl to London’s Soho Theatre this November, turning her experiences of bisexual dating, singledom and the search for love into an autobiographical comedy. The London transfer follows the show’s run at the Edinburgh Fringe in August and gives audiences three weeks to catch it at Soho Upstairs.
Running from November 2 to 21, Lover Girl starts with Temi confronting something of a personal mystery. She considers herself a romantic and has plenty to say about love, yet somehow remains single.
Lover Girl puts bisexual dating centre stage
Drawing on Temi’s experiences as a young bisexual Black woman, the show explores dating, attraction and relationships while moving between comedy, personal storytelling and more surreal ideas about romance. The result is a 60-minute production that takes the familiar search for a partner and approaches it from Temi’s own perspective.
Lover Girl follows Temi’s previous Edinburgh show Main Character Energy, which she performed at the festival in 2024. Her latest production returns to questions around identity and relationships but puts romance and the realities of being single at the heart of the story.
The show is directed by Ragevan Vasan and is recommended by Soho Theatre for audiences aged 16 and over. Its London run will take place at Soho Upstairs on Dean Street.
Special performances during the London run
Two Black Out Night performances are also scheduled for November 5 and November 19. Soho Theatre describes these performances as creating an environment in which Black audiences can experience a show that explores Black identity free from the white gaze.
Both performances will be followed by post-show discussions, giving audiences an additional opportunity to talk about the themes explored in Lover Girl. The nights form part of the wider London run rather than separate versions of the production.
The Soho Theatre dates give Lover Girl a substantial London run following Edinburgh and bring Temi’s personal take on romance to one of the capital’s best-known venues for new comedy and theatre.
For audiences discovering Temi for the first time, Lover Girl offers an introduction through a subject almost everyone can recognise, even if her experiences of navigating love, bisexuality and singledom are distinctly her own.
Temi Wilkey: Lover Girl runs at Soho Theatre in London from November 2 to November 21, 2026.
