Slow Horses Season 6 Sends Gary Oldman’s MI5 Team on the Run
Slow Horses Season 6 sends Gary Oldman’s MI5 outsiders on the run as Apple TV’s hit spy drama returns with a deadly new threat.
Slow Horses is almost back, and Season 6 is turning the tables on Jackson Lamb and his dysfunctional team by making the MI5 outsiders the ones being hunted.
The acclaimed Apple TV spy drama returns on 16 September, with Gary once again leading Slough House alongside Kristin, Jack, Saskia and the rest of the ensemble. Season 6 consists of six episodes, with the premiere followed by a new episode every Wednesday through 21 October.
This time, the Slow Horses are forced onto the run after Diana pulls them into what Apple describes as a deadly game of retaliation and revenge. That immediately puts the team into a different position, with the people usually operating from the margins of MI5 now facing a direct threat themselves.
Gary returns as Jackson, the brilliant, abrasive and frequently disgusting head of Slough House who has somehow managed to keep his collection of rejected agents alive through five increasingly dangerous seasons. Kristin is back as Diana, while Jack returns as River and Saskia reprises her role as Catherine.
One particularly notable return is Olivia as Sid, whose reappearance gives Season 6 another major link back to the show’s earlier years. New addition Lenny also joins a cast that includes Christopher, Aimee-Ffion, Rosalind, Joanna, Samuel, Ruth, Tom, Jonathan and Hugo.
The new episodes adapt material from Joe Country and Slough House, the sixth and seventh novels in Mick Herron’s book series. Rather than simply following one novel per season, the television version is combining elements from both as the threat around Slough House escalates.
Slow Horses has become one of Apple TV’s most dependable prestige dramas, combining serious espionage plots with black comedy and characters who are very far removed from the polished spies usually seen on television.
Season 6 looks ready to lean even harder into that formula. The difference this time is that Jackson and his team cannot simply sit back and wait for the next disaster to arrive at Slough House because they are already caught inside it.
