Shortland Street fans thrilled as Dr Crane declares she left her wife for Maeve
Shortland Street fans are celebrating after Dr Nicole Crane tells Maeve she has left her wife and returned for her, sparking hopes of a long awaited reunion
Shortland Street fans are hoping love is in the air for Dr Nicole Crane and Maeve after actress Tania Nolan shared an emotional new clip teasing the next chapter in the pair’s complicated relationship.
The video, posted on Nolan’s Instagram account, sees Crane make a dramatic confession as she reveals she has left her wife and returned to Ferndale because she wants to be with Maeve.
The unexpected declaration leaves Maeve stunned, particularly as she has recently begun a new relationship with paramedic BJ.
Rather than immediately welcoming Crane back into her life, Maeve reminds her that things have changed.

“I’m sorry but you can’t just come back and expect everything to just fall into place,” she tells Crane.
However, despite the emotional conversation, Maeve’s compassion soon shines through. After asking where Crane plans to stay for the night and discovering she has nowhere to go, Maeve offers her a place to stay, adding one important condition.
“Stay with me… on the couch.”

The touching exchange has already sparked plenty of excitement among viewers, many of whom have long hoped the former couple would eventually reunite.
Fans quickly filled social media with messages backing Crane and Maeve to find their way back to each other.
One viewer wrote: “Definitely team Crane!! Take her back, Maeve! She loves you!”
Another commented: “Crane and Maeve have to get back together.”
A third added: “I like Crane with Maeve better than BJ.”
Others praised the chemistry between the pair, with one fan writing: “Yay!!!!! Such chemistry! I’m so glad Crane is back!”
Another said: “Great scene! Can’t wait to see how they will get back together,” while one viewer warned BJ: “Look out BJ, u got competition!”
The reaction suggests many fans are eager to see Crane and Maeve rekindle their romance, despite the complications created by Maeve’s new relationship.
BJ and Maeve have only recently become girlfriends after a whirlwind romance that began when the paramedic arrived at the hospital as a patient. Their relationship quickly blossomed, with the pair sharing a first kiss in the bar before making things official.

Now, Crane’s return has turned Maeve’s world upside down. Having made the life changing decision to leave her wife in the hope of winning Maeve back, Crane has laid her feelings on the line.
Whether Maeve follows her heart or remains committed to BJ is still to be revealed, but if the early reaction is anything to go by, plenty of Shortland Street viewers are firmly behind a reunion for one of the show’s most popular former couples.
