Annie Murphy’s dark comedy series Kevin Can F**k Himself is heading to ITVX, with the complete AMC series set to become available to stream for free from 13 September.
The Emmy Award-winning Schitt’s Creek star leads the series as Allison McRoberts, a woman seemingly trapped in the familiar role of the long-suffering “sitcom wife”. However, the series quickly turns that television stereotype on its head as Allison begins to question her life and revolt against the situation she has found herself in.
One of the show’s defining features is the way it moves between two very different television styles. Scenes depicting Allison’s life alongside her husband Kevin use the brightly lit, multi-camera format associated with traditional sitcoms, while her experiences away from him shift into darker single-camera realism.
The result is a comedy drama that deliberately asks viewers to reconsider the characters and behaviour television audiences have traditionally been encouraged to laugh at.
Both seasons of Kevin Can F**k Himself will be available to stream for free on ITVX from 13 September.
