Saturday Night Live UK Series 2 starts this weekend with Jeff Goldblum and CMAT

Saturday Night Live UK is back this weekend, with Series 2 beginning on Sky and NOW and a major Hollywood name taking control of the first live show.

Jeff will host the opening episode on Saturday 12 September, with Irish singer songwriter CMAT joining him as musical guest. The launch begins another run of live comedy, topical sketches, celebrity hosts and music as the famous American format continues building its British version.

The format remains instantly recognisable to anyone familiar with the US original. Each week brings a different celebrity host into the studio alongside a musical guest, while the resident comedy cast tackles sketches inspired by entertainment, politics, culture and whatever has been dominating conversation that week.

Weekend Update also returns with its British spin, while everything is performed in front of a live studio audience. That live element remains one of the biggest parts of the format, with performers working without the safety net of a traditionally recorded and heavily edited comedy show.

Series 2 brings back Hammed, Ayoade, Larry, Celeste, George, Ania, Annabel, Al, Jack, Emma and Paddy. They are joined this time by Freddie, expanding the cast ahead of another run of Saturday night shows.

Sky has already revealed who will follow Jeff after the premiere, giving viewers a much clearer idea of what is coming during the opening weeks.

Jamie will host on 19 September with Royal Blood as musical guest, before Amelia takes over on 26 September with Rachel performing. Further episodes are scheduled for 10, 17 and 24 October, with additional shows planned for early 2027.

The opening combination of Jeff and CMAT should also make the premiere particularly interesting. Jeff brings decades of film recognition from projects including Jurassic Park and Wicked, while CMAT has become one of Ireland’s most distinctive current music performers and arrives following major awards attention.

For UK viewers who have watched the American edition for years, Saturday Night Live UK offers the same basic formula but with British comedians, British topical references and guests chosen for a UK audience.

When is Saturday Night Live UK Series 2 on?

Saturday Night Live UK Series 2 begins on Saturday 12 September on Sky One and NOW. Episodes will air live at 10pm, with catch up viewing also available after broadcast through Sky and NOW.

US viewers will also be able to watch the British version on Peacock, but Sky remains the exclusive UK home of the programme. That means UK viewers will need access to Sky or NOW to follow Series 2.
