Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman Reunite as Practical Magic 2 Arrives in UK Cinemas

Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman are finally back together as Sally and Gillian Owens, with Practical Magic 2 now showing in UK cinemas almost three decades after the original film became a cult favourite.

The sequel opened in the UK on 11 September 2026 and brings audiences back into the magical world of the Owens family. This time, Sally and Gillian must confront the dark family curse that has followed generations of Owens women and now threatens the next generation too.

Bullock returns as Sally Owens alongside Kidman as her sister Gillian, with both stars also producing the film. Dianne Wiest and Stockard Channing are back as Aunt Jet and Aunt Franny, giving the sequel an important connection to the original 1998 movie rather than simply rebuilding the story around a completely new cast.

The first film arrived in 1998 and starred Bullock and Kidman as sisters born into a family of witches whose romantic lives are haunted by a curse. Although its original reception was mixed, Practical Magic gradually developed a loyal following and became particularly popular for its blend of romance, sisterhood, humour and supernatural drama.

That long lasting affection is a major reason the sequel feels bigger than a routine Hollywood revival. Bullock and Kidman are returning to characters audiences have continued watching and rediscovering for nearly 30 years, while the story now allows Sally and Gillian to become the experienced figures guiding younger members of the Owens family.

The official trailer leans heavily into that combination of nostalgia and something new. Familiar characters and locations return, but the curse appears to be more dangerous than ever as the Owens sisters are forced to protect their family once again.

The UK version has been classified by the BBFC as a fantasy romance and runs for approximately 130 minutes. Warner Bros. is distributing the film, with Practical Magic 2 receiving a full cinema release rather than heading directly to streaming.

For fans who grew up with Sally, Gillian, Jet and Franny, the biggest attraction will probably be simply seeing the Owens women together again.

For viewers discovering the family for the first time, the new generation gives Practical Magic 2 a chance to continue the story beyond nostalgia and potentially open the door to more films in the future.
