Samsarah Creator Isabelle Reveals the Story Behind the New AI WLW Series

There is something immediately intriguing about the setup behind Samsarah. The new slow burn WLW AI series introduces Samantha and Sarah at two very different points in their lives, then places an attraction between them that neither woman appears prepared for.

Samantha is 40, married to a man, raising two children and working as a real estate agent. Sarah is 28, openly lesbian and has spent the past three years alone following the death of her partner.

Their circumstances could hardly be further apart, which gives Samsarah an obvious question from its opening stages: what happens when the person who changes your life is somebody you never expected to meet?

Creator Isabelle tells SoapLandTV that this contrast is central to what makes the pairing work. Rather than simply presenting two opposites, the series gradually reveals the values and emotional needs they have in common.

That attraction is the starting point rather than the entire story. Samsarah is interested in the hesitation around it, the individual baggage Samantha and Sarah bring with them and the different speeds at which two people can recognise what is happening between them.

Perhaps the most surprising thing about the new series is that Samantha and Sarah themselves are far from new.

Isabelle first began developing their story around 20 years ago, drawing partly on experiences from her own life. Much of it was written before being put aside, leaving the characters effectively waiting for a way to escape the page.

That opportunity arrived only recently through AI. A major part of the catalyst was Icebreaker, Gen’s slow burn WLW series following Ana and Noémie. Isabelle discovered the project and became invested in it as a viewer, but something else was happening at the same time. Seeing another creator use AI imagery to tell an ongoing romantic story made her reconsider what might now be possible with Samantha and Sarah.

“That drawer where I had tucked away Samantha and Sarah’s story suddenly flew right back open!”

There is an important distinction in that influence. Samsarah did not begin as a response to Icebreaker. Samantha and Sarah had already existed for decades, with their relationship and wider journey established long before Isabelle encountered Gen’s work.

What Icebreaker provided was proof that the visual side of Isabelle’s ambition was finally within reach. For someone who describes herself as a strongly visual person, that appears to have removed the barrier that had kept the story dormant for so long.

The result is not simply a collection of AI generated romantic scenes either. Isabelle is effectively building a continuing series from the ground up, writing dialogue, planning individual shots, developing locations and outfits, generating the visuals and then editing everything together with music, sound and subtitles.

She is currently working on Samsarah full time and learning more about the technology with each episode. As a French creator producing prompts and English language content for an international audience, even the generation process brings its own challenges.

That may also explain why Samsarah feels particularly interesting within the growing area of AI entertainment. The technology is not being presented as the story itself. It is being used as a production tool by somebody who already had characters, a relationship and a long form narrative she wanted to tell.

Isabelle already knows where Samantha and Sarah are heading, although she admits individual scenes can change during creation. Fans should therefore expect a planned story rather than one being rewritten around audience reaction each week.

There is also much more to come. Isabelle plans to balance drama with humour, intimacy and more sensual moments, while allowing the relationship to touch on experiences viewers may recognise from their own lives.

For a series still at the very beginning, the early response has already given its creator reason to keep going.
