Romeo Beckham makes acting debut in gay tennis romance Forty Love
Romeo Beckham makes his acting debut opposite Paul Kircher in Forty Love, a gay tennis romance about rivalry, ambition and unexpected love.
Romeo Beckham is making his acting debut in Forty Love, a French film about two rival tennis players whose competitive relationship develops into something more complicated.
The first trailer, released by StudioCanal on 15 October, offers a glimpse of a romance that combines sporting ambition with attraction, jealousy and rivalry.
Romeo, the son of David and Victoria Beckham, stars opposite French actor Paul Kircher in the film, which marks the feature directorial debut of fashion photographer Pierre-Ange Carlotti. The story centres on a young tennis player whose carefully planned future is disrupted by the arrival of a new rival.
What is Forty Love about?
Kircher plays Sacha Gallo, a 21-year-old tennis player who has spent his life training under his father. The pair share a dream of winning their first major title in Paris, and tennis has shaped almost every aspect of Sacha’s life.
That carefully controlled world begins to unravel when Romeo Beckham’s character arrives as a new rival. Their relationship is charged with competition, but the tension between them extends beyond the court as Sacha begins to confront feelings he did not expect.

The trailer suggests that the pair’s connection will be far from straightforward. Taunts and threats sit alongside intimate moments, leaving the characters caught between their desire to defeat each other and their growing attraction.
The film explores the complicated overlap between ambition and intimacy, using professional tennis as the backdrop for a romance in which neither player can easily separate competition from emotion.
Romeo Beckham takes his first acting role
Romeo has previously pursued football and modelling, working with fashion brands before taking on his first feature-film role. His casting is likely to bring attention to Forty Love beyond its audience for LGBTQ+ cinema, particularly given the film’s focus on a romance between two men.

Kircher, known for his work in French cinema including The Animal Kingdom, leads the film as Sacha. The supporting cast includes Guillaume Canet, Benjamin Voisin and Catherine Deneuve.
Carlotti directs from a screenplay co-written with Gaëlle Macé. The film’s first trailer has already put its central pairing in the spotlight, with Romeo’s move from modelling into acting adding another talking point.
When will Forty Love be released?
Forty Love is scheduled to open in French cinemas on 25 November 2026. An international release date, including for the UK, has not yet been confirmed.
For now, the newly released trailer offers the first look at Romeo Beckham’s screen debut and a tennis romance in which the biggest challenge for its young players may not be winning a title, but confronting their feelings for each other.
