RJ Mitte, Walter White Jr. of "Breaking Bad," Dies at 34

RJ Mitte, the actor who played Walter White Jr. on Breaking Bad and became a leading disability-rights advocate, has died at 34.

His representatives confirmed the news on Monday, saying he died in Brownsville, Texas. No cause of death has been disclosed.

Mitte played the son of Bryan Cranston's and Anna Gunn's characters in the Vince Gilligan drama, which ran from 2008 to 2013 and won 16 Primetime Emmys.

Like his character, he lived with cerebral palsy, and the show's success gave him a platform to raise awareness and push for better disability representation in Hollywood. He was part of the cast that won a SAG Award for ensemble drama in 2014.

His career continued well beyond the series. He starred in Triumph (2021), Love Me Dead (2024), and Westhampton (2025), and appeared in Switched at Birth, Now Apocalypse, and Netflix's The Guardians of Justice. His latest film, Talking to Strangers, was one he was still promoting on podcasts just days before his death.

Off screen, Mitte was an ambassador for United Cerebral Palsy and Shriners Children's, and he ran the Mitte Foundation, a charity that challenged stereotypes about people with disabilities. He was engaged to Kennedy Suarez.

His representatives called him a "beloved actor, philanthropist, and passionate disability rights advocate."
