Oh, Mary! gives Ghosts favourite Adefope her West End debut
Ghosts star Lolly Adefope replaces Jinkx Monsoon in Oh, Mary! as the West End comedy welcomes a new cast at Trafalgar Theatre.
Oh, Mary! is preparing for a West End cast change as Jinkx Monsoon completes her limited run at London's Trafalgar Theatre. The RuPaul's Drag Race winner will give her final performance as Mary Todd Lincoln on September 26, 2026, before Ghosts star Lolly Adefope takes over on September 28.
Lolly's arrival marks her West End debut, with the actor stepping into the lead role alongside a new supporting cast. Rehearsal photographs have already been released as the company prepares for its first performances together.
Lucy Frederick will play Mary's Chaperone, with J.R. Ballantyne as Mary's Husband's Assistant. Vinnie Heaven joins as Mary's Teacher, while Syrus Lowe takes on the role of Mary's Husband.
Written by Cole Escola, Oh, Mary! imagines a deliberately ridiculous version of Mary Todd Lincoln in the weeks before Abraham Lincoln's assassination. Mary's frustrations, drinking and suppressed desires drive the dark comedy, which turns the former First Lady's life into an outrageous theatrical farce.
The production has enjoyed success on both sides of the Atlantic, winning Tony Awards for its original leading performance and direction on Broadway. Its London production subsequently won the 2026 Olivier Award for Best New Entertainment or Comedy Play.
When does Lolly Adefope join Oh, Mary!?
Lolly begins performances on September 28, 2026 and is scheduled to play Mary until December 5. Jinkx's final performance is September 26, giving audiences only a few more days to catch her in the role.
The production itself is currently booking at Trafalgar Theatre until January 2, 2027. That booking period extends beyond Lolly's announced engagement, which ends in December.
Lolly Adefope stars in Oh, Mary! at London's Trafalgar Theatre from September 28 until December 5, 2026. Book tickets through the production's official website.
