Nine Perfect Strangers Coming to ITVX as ITV Acquires Nicole Kidman Drama
Nine Perfect Strangers is coming to ITVX, with Nicole Kidman leading an all-star cast including Melissa McCarthy, Luke Evans and Regina Hall.
ITV is strengthening its ITVX drama line-up with the acquisition of Nine Perfect Strangers, bringing the Nicole Kidman-led series and its major ensemble cast to the platform this September.
All eight episodes will be available to stream on ITVX from 27 September, adding another high-profile international drama to the service and giving viewers a complete series to watch from launch.
Based on the bestselling novel by Liane Moriarty, Nine Perfect Strangers centres on Tranquillum House, an exclusive wellness resort promising healing and transformation to nine stressed city dwellers.
Overseeing the ten-day retreat is the mysterious Masha, played by Nicole Kidman, who believes she can reinvigorate the minds and bodies of her guests. What initially appears to be a luxurious escape gradually becomes something far more intense as the strangers discover Masha has her own unconventional plans for their stay.
Nicole leads an impressive cast that also includes Melissa McCarthy, Michael Shannon, Luke Evans, Bobby Cannavale, Regina Hall, Samara Weaving, Melvin Gregg, Asher Keddie and Grace Van Patten.
The drama combines suspense with lighter comedic moments while exploring the guests’ personal struggles, their search for self-improvement and the increasingly complicated world of modern health and wellness.
Behind the camera is another strong collection of names. David E. Kelley, whose credits include Big Little Lies and The Undoing, serves as showrunner and co-writer alongside John Henry Butterworth and Samantha Strauss.
Jonathan Levine directs all eight episodes and serves as an executive producer, while the series was created with Bruna Papandrea’s Made Up Stories and Nicole Kidman’s Blossom Films. FIFTH SEASON handles global distribution and brokered the acquisition with ITV.
The addition of Nine Perfect Strangers continues ITVX’s expansion of its drama offering, with the platform bringing together ITV originals alongside major acquired series and box sets.
With Nicole at the centre of the story and a cast spanning comedy, drama and film, Nine Perfect Strangers gives ITVX viewers a substantial new drama to get stuck into as part of its September schedule.
