Nico Tortorella Stars in Salt Kiss as ReelShort Adapts Sierra Simone’s Lyonesse Trilogy

Nico Tortorella is heading to ReelShort as Sierra Simone’s popular Lyonesse Trilogy gets a complete screen adaptation.

The Younger actor stars as billionaire Mark Trevena, alongside Jake Lively as former soldier Tristan Thomas and Katelyn Rose as Isolde Laurence. The first adaptation, Salt Kiss, premieres exclusively on ReelShort on 6 September 2026.

What is Salt Kiss about?

Tristan is hired as Mark’s new bodyguard and soon becomes increasingly drawn to him. Things become even more complicated when Tristan is asked to accompany Mark’s fiancée Isolde and begins developing feelings for her too.

The relationship between Mark, Tristan and Isolde sits at the centre of the trilogy, which Sierra describes as a contemporary LGBTQ+ retelling of the Tristan and Isolde legend.

The books are also known for their darker and more adult romance, including BDSM themes and an MMF relationship between the three central characters. That more provocative side of the original story is part of what has helped the series build a passionate readership.

All three books are coming to ReelShort

ReelShort is adapting the complete trilogy rather than stopping with Salt Kiss. Honey Cut follows on 15 September, before Bitter Burn arrives on 24 September.

There is also a prequel novella, Salt in the Wound, which forms part of the wider Lyonesse story.

Sierra has explained that the trilogy was designed as one complete story, making the decision to adapt all three books particularly significant for existing fans.

The project also marks Nico’s move into the vertical microdrama format, with the episodes designed primarily for mobile viewing.

UK viewers will be able to watch through ReelShort online and through its app.
