Nathan Sykes leads new Hadestown West End cast as booking extends into 2027

Nathan Sykes is now starring as Orpheus in Hadestown as the hit West End musical settles into its latest cast change and extends its London booking into 2027.

The Wanted singer began performances at the Lyric Theatre on September 15, marking his West End debut alongside several new principal cast members. Nathan stars opposite Fayth Ifil as Eurydice, with Danielle de Niese taking over as Persephone, Shaun Dooley playing Hades and Malinda Parris appearing as Hermes.

Nathan’s casting was originally announced in July, but audiences can now see the new company together on stage as Hadestown enters another chapter of its successful London run.

The musical has also extended its booking period, giving audiences considerably more time to see the current production. Performances at the Lyric Theatre are now available into 2027, continuing a West End run that has already established Hadestown as one of London’s most prominent recent musical arrivals.

Nathan is best known as a member of The Wanted, who achieved a string of major UK hits including Glad You Came, All Time Low and Chasing the Sun. He later launched a solo career before making the move into musical theatre with one of the production’s biggest roles.

As Orpheus, Nathan takes on the young musician at the centre of the show’s retelling of the Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice. His story follows his attempt to reach Eurydice in the underworld, while the relationship between Hades and Persephone unfolds alongside them.

Fayth takes over as Eurydice after appearing in productions including Tina: The Tina Turner Musical and Just For One Day. Danielle brings an extensive international opera career to Persephone, while Shaun arrives as Hades following a screen career that has included It’s a Sin, Broadchurch, Mr Bates vs The Post Office and Saltburn.

Malinda completes the new principal line-up as Hermes, guiding audiences through the story. Melanie Bright, Spike Maxwell and Lauran Rae continue as the Fates.

Created by Anaïs Mitchell and directed by Rachel Chavkin, Hadestown combines the stories of Orpheus and Eurydice with Hades and Persephone, using a score influenced by folk, blues and jazz.

The musical originally began life as a concept album before developing into a stage production and later transferring to Broadway, where it won eight Tony Awards including Best Musical. The West End production opened at the Lyric Theatre in 2024 following the show’s earlier London engagement at the National Theatre.

With Nathan now established in the role and the booking period extended, audiences have plenty more opportunities to see the latest Hadestown company in London.
