Narnia returns with Daniel Craig and Meryl Streep in story never seen on screen
Narnia reveals its first look at Greta Gerwig’s magical new adventure starring Daniel Craig, Emma Mackey and Meryl Streep.
Narnia is heading back to the big screen, with the first official look at Greta Gerwig’s The Magician’s Nephew revealing the beginning of a completely new adventure through C. S. Lewis’s fantasy world.
David McKenna stars as Digory alongside Beatrice Campbell as Polly, two young adventurers who discover a way to travel between different worlds. Their journey eventually takes them to the creation of Narnia itself.
Daniel Craig plays Digory’s eccentric magician uncle Andrew, while Emma Mackey takes on Jadis, the powerful character who eventually becomes the White Witch. Meryl Streep will voice Aslan, with Carey Mulligan, Ciarán Hinds, Kobna Holdbrook-Smith, Denise Gough and Susan Wokoma completing an impressive cast.
The first-look material gives audiences an early glimpse of Digory and Polly’s adventure, including the mysterious Wood Between the Worlds that connects different universes.
It also immediately separates Greta’s film from the previous Narnia movies. Rather than returning to The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, her first instalment goes much further back and explores how Narnia came into existence.
It will be the first screen adaptation of The Magician’s Nephew, giving even longtime fans of the previous films a part of the story they have never seen brought to life this way.
Netflix is also giving Narnia a significant cinema release before it reaches streaming. IMAX previews begin on February 10, 2027, followed by its global theatrical release on February 12.
The wait to watch it at home will then be relatively short, with the film arriving globally on Netflix on April 2.
