Julie Hesmondhalgh hints at Celebrity Traitors castle fallout viewers never saw

Former Coronation Street star Julie Hesmondhalgh has suggested that viewers did not see everything that happened inside The Celebrity Traitors castle, although she is keeping quiet about which fellow contestants may have frustrated her.

The actress, best known for playing Hayley Cropper, was banished from the BBC competition on 9 October after her fellow players became convinced she was hiding something. Despite their suspicions, Julie was a Faithful.

Her departure was particularly surprising given that she had previously been voted the most trustworthy contestant, making her eventual banishment an unexpected turn in the game.

What happened behind the scenes?

In a recent interview with The Times, Julie declined to identify anyone who had particularly irritated her during filming, leaving viewers wondering whether tensions developed away from the cameras.

Fellow contestant James Acaster has also suggested that a significant exchange involving James Blunt contributed to Julie's exit but was not included in the televised episode.

According to James, a disagreement over what had been shared between contestants influenced the suspicions surrounding Julie at the round table.

However, Julie has not confirmed whether her comments relate to that particular incident, and there is no suggestion that the two accounts are necessarily connected.

Julie has also spoken about the emotional demands of filming, including the psychological preparation involved and the intense relationships formed during the competition.

Despite her early departure, she has reflected positively on parts of the experience, including the support she received from fellow contestants.

With The Celebrity Traitors continuing on BBC One, her comments offer another reminder that viewers only see a selection of what unfolds inside the castle.
