Joe Lycett Joins Lou Sanders for Unusual New Comedy Night in London

Joe Lycett is joining Lou Sanders for a new comedy and cabaret event at London's Hackney Empire, with an eclectic line-up of performers preparing to take the stage in January.

The event forms part of Empire Nights, a series giving established comedians the opportunity to curate an evening featuring their favourite performers.

Comedy, Cabaret and Unexpected Performances

Sanders will headline the second instalment on Friday 29 January 2027, with Lycett appearing alongside Frankie Thompson, Ayoade Bamgboye and cabaret collective Figs in Wigs.

Rather than presenting a traditional stand-up bill, the evening will bring together different performance styles, allowing Sanders to introduce audiences to artists she has personally selected.

The first Empire Nights was curated by Jamali Maddix and featured Kurupt FM, establishing the format as a showcase for comedy and alternative entertainment.

Sanders has previously appeared at Hackney Empire through Live at the Empire, but this will be her first opportunity to headline her own Empire Nights event.

Lycett, meanwhile, has become known for combining television presenting and stand-up with elaborate public stunts and satire.

His appearance adds another recognisable name to an evening that also gives less familiar performers the opportunity to reach a wider audience.

When Is Empire Nights?

Lou Sanders' Empire Nights takes place at Hackney Empire on Friday 29 January 2027.

Joe Lycett, Frankie Thompson, Ayoade Bamgboye and Figs in Wigs are among the confirmed performers, with tickets available through the venue.
