ITVX Acquires Jack Whitehall Revenge Thriller Malice for November Release

ITVX has acquired Malice, an Amazon MGM Studios revenge thriller starring Jack Whitehall and David Duchovny, with the series set to arrive on the free streaming platform on 15 November.

Whitehall, best known for comedy series Fresh Meat and Bad Education, takes on a darker role as Adam, a charismatic tutor who becomes entangled in the lives of a wealthy family while they are holidaying in Greece. However, his seemingly charming personality hides a sinister agenda, and his growing obsession with the family soon threatens to destroy everything they have built.

The thriller also stars two-time Golden Globe Award winner David Duchovny, known for The X-Files, Californication and Twin Peaks, as Jamie Tanner, alongside Carice Van Houten as his wife, Nat.

What is Malice about?

Malice follows Adam as he gradually works his way into the lives of Jamie Tanner and his family during their holiday in Greece. When the family’s nanny falls dangerously ill, Adam seizes the opportunity to secure a place in their London home, bringing his hidden motives dangerously close to those he intends to target.

Once inside the family circle, Adam begins manipulating Jamie and Nat, turning them against one another while secretly plotting to bring down the entire household. As a series of disasters unfolds, suspicions grow about Adam’s intentions, and those who attempt to uncover the truth about his past find themselves caught up in a potentially deadly game.

Jamie eventually begins to suspect that Adam may be behind the events threatening his family, but discovering the truth could come too late to prevent the damage.

The series explores betrayal, manipulation and revenge, with Adam’s carefully constructed persona concealing a much more dangerous individual. As the Tanners’ lives begin to unravel, the central question becomes whether they can recognise the threat within their own home before it is too late.

Who is behind the ITVX thriller?

Malice is co-produced by Expectation and Tailspin Films, with BAFTA-nominated writer James Wood serving as creator and executive producer. Wood also executive produces alongside Tim Hincks and Imogen Cooper.

The series sees Whitehall step away from the comedic roles that have helped establish his career, placing him at the centre of a psychological revenge story alongside Duchovny and Van Houten.

With its wealthy family, mysterious outsider and escalating tensions, the thriller builds its story around the unsettling possibility that the person welcomed into a home could ultimately become its greatest threat.
