It’s a Sin becomes live stage show as hit LGBTQ+ drama announces UK tour
It’s a Sin is becoming a live dance musical as Russell T Davies’ acclaimed LGBTQ+ drama prepares for a UK stage tour in 2027.
Russell T Davies’ acclaimed It’s a Sin is being transformed into a live stage production, bringing the story that captivated television audiences into a completely new form.
Rather than a traditional stage adaptation, It’s a Sin will retell the story through dance, music and movement.
The production will receive its world premiere at Manchester’s Aviva Studios in February 2027 before embarking on a UK tour.
The original Channel 4 drama followed a group of young gay men and their friends living in London during the 1980s as the HIV/AIDS crisis began devastating their community.
Created by Russell T Davies, the five-part series starred Olly Alexander as Ritchie alongside Omari Douglas, Callum Scott Howells, Lydia West and Nathaniel Curtis.
Its soundtrack was also a major part of the series, drawing heavily on the music of the 1980s.
What is It’s a Sin?
The new production will use dance to revisit the friendship, love, freedom and loss at the centre of the television series.
It marks a significant new chapter for It’s a Sin, taking characters and themes established on television and reimagining them for a live audience.
Further details about casting and additional tour dates are expected ahead of the premiere.
