How “When The Tide Turns” became part of Ana and Noémie’s first kiss in Icebreaker
Faceless Design Collective creator Netty Neal reveals how “When The Tide Turns” became part of Ana and Noémie’s first kiss in Icebreaker.
One of the most memorable moments in Icebreaker arrived when Ana and Noémie finally kissed, with Faceless Design Collective track “When The Tide Turns” playing across the scene.
For creator Netty Neal, seeing the song become part of that moment created an unexpected connection between her music and a WLW story she had already become invested in herself.
Speaking exclusively to SoapLandTV, Netty explained that the placement came through Icebreaker creator Gen, who trusted the track to carry an important emotional moment between the two characters.
Rather than simply appearing in the background, the song became closely tied to the scene and to the shift in Ana and Noémie’s relationship.
The choice feels particularly fitting for a track built around emotion and change. “When The Tide Turns” sits on FDC’s RIPTIDE project and has since become one of the songs most closely associated with the Icebreaker audience, with viewers discovering the wider Faceless Design Collective catalogue through the scene.

For Netty, one of the most interesting parts of the reaction was how naturally the music became part of the storytelling. As she reflected on the response, “people weren’t thinking about rendering technology” in that moment. They were watching two characters they cared about finally cross an emotional line that had been building between them.
That response captures something important about FDC’s approach to AI-assisted creativity. The technology used during production may be part of how the music is made, but in the finished scene the focus was on Ana, Noémie and the emotion of their first kiss. The track worked because it supported the story rather than drawing attention away from it.
Netty had already followed the developing relationship between the two characters, making the placement even more meaningful.
The combination of a song she had helped shape and a story she was personally enjoying turned the scene into something far more memorable than a conventional music placement.
It also introduced Faceless Design Collective to viewers who may not previously have encountered Netty’s work. Since then, “When The Tide Turns” has remained one of FDC’s most visible tracks across its music platforms, while the connection with Icebreaker has helped bring the project into conversations around contemporary WLW storytelling.
For Gen, choosing the track meant trusting the music to support one of the series’ key relationship moments. For Netty, it became an example of what can happen when music finds exactly the right scene, creating an emotional connection that reaches beyond the way the track itself was produced.
The result is a moment where the technology effectively disappears into the background and the story takes over. Ana and Noémie remain at the centre, while “When The Tide Turns” gives their first kiss an additional emotional layer that viewers have continued to associate with the pair.
