Honey Cut brings a bisexual three-way romance to ReelShort

Honey Cut has arrived on ReelShort, continuing the bisexual romance between a billionaire, his fiancée and his bodyguard. Released on 15 September, the drama follows Isolde, Mark and Tristan as attraction, loyalty and manipulation draw them into an increasingly complicated relationship.

The series is the second instalment in the adaptation of Sierra Simone’s Lyonesse trilogy, a contemporary reimagining of the legend of Tristan and Isolde. Its vertical format means the episodes are filmed upright for viewing on a phone, with the story unfolding through short chapters.

The relationship began in Salt Kiss, which introduced former soldier Tristan as Mark’s new bodyguard. Tristan becomes attracted to his employer before being asked to protect Mark’s fiancée, Isolde, and developing feelings for her too.

Honey Cut develops this MMF romance, meaning a relationship involving two men and one woman, with attraction also existing between the men. Jealousy, secrets and conflicting loyalties complicate those connections as the characters become more deeply involved with one another.

Nico Tortorella plays Mark, alongside Jake Lively as Tristan and Katelyn Rose as Isolde. Viewers may recognise Nico from Younger, The Walking Dead: World Beyond and Scream 4, while Jake has appeared in several previous microdramas.

ReelShort is adapting all three books, giving the central relationship room to develop across the complete trilogy. Sierra Simone has previously explained that the books were intended to be experienced as one continuous, interconnected story.

That makes Honey Cut the middle chapter, with the characters’ earlier choices carrying into the next instalment. Viewers starting here can return to Salt Kiss to follow how Tristan’s feelings for Mark and Isolde first developed.

Salt Kiss arrived on 6 September, while the concluding adaptation, Bitter Burn, is scheduled for 24 September. With the three releases arriving within the same month, viewers have only a short wait between chapters as the relationship moves towards its conclusion.
