Home and Away Jo gives Amelia new hope over David romance

Jo gives Amelia fresh reason to reconsider her future with David in Home and Away after revealing just how much of an impact she believes Amelia has had on her dad. Amelia may have convinced herself that there is nothing more to pursue, but Jo is becoming increasingly certain that David’s behaviour tells a different story.

Amelia has already decided to leave Summer Bay and insists that her departure is simply part of being a locum. Jo immediately questions whether David has influenced the decision, but Amelia denies that her feelings for him are behind her plans to move on.

Rather than accepting the explanation, Jo tells Amelia what she has noticed since she arrived in David’s life. She points out that Amelia has encouraged him to do things he would never normally have considered, with counselling standing out as one of the biggest examples.

For Jo, that change means Amelia has clearly reached David on a deeper level, even if he continues insisting they are only friends. She cannot promise Amelia that her dad wants a relationship, but she makes it clear that Amelia matters to him far more than his awkward handling of the situation might suggest.

The conversation leaves Amelia with plenty to think about and reignites the possibility that there could still be a future between them. Until now, David’s insistence that he was not ready for anything had given Amelia little reason to believe waiting around would lead anywhere.

Jo’s intervention changes that perspective without pretending the outcome is guaranteed. Amelia begins reconsidering whether leaving now could mean walking away before David has fully understood the effect she has had on him.

That shift soon leads to an important decision, with Amelia choosing to extend her stay and continue covering Levi at the hospital. Her work provides a practical reason to remain, but Jo’s words have also reopened a romantic possibility Amelia had started trying to leave behind.

David may still be denying that his feelings go beyond friendship, but Jo has seen enough to question whether he is being entirely honest with himself. Amelia is now staying in Summer Bay, giving both of them more time to discover whether Jo has spotted something neither is quite ready to admit.
