Home and Away Dana makes Harper maid of honour as Beau danger grows

Dana shares what should be a joyful wedding milestone with Harper in Home and Away, completely unaware of the frightening situation her sister is hiding. As Dana asks Harper to become her maid of honour, Beau’s increasingly controlling behaviour casts a disturbing shadow over the celebration.

Harper has returned from her trip with Beau still carrying the remnants of a bruise on her face from where he hit her. Before Dana arrives, Beau tells Harper to touch it up, making clear that he does not want anyone noticing what has happened between them.

Beau apologises again for hitting Harper, but his explanation does little to reassure her. He claims that he loves her so much that it sometimes drives him crazy, using his feelings as an excuse for behaviour that has already become violent.

When Dana arrives, she is full of excitement about her engagement and future wedding to Sonny. Her happiness means she does not pick up on Harper’s state, leaving her unaware that her sister is trying to conceal what is happening behind closed doors.

Harper’s situation becomes even more alarming when she overhears Beau speaking quietly on the phone and saying that he wants someone “taken care of”. When Harper questions him about the call, Beau immediately threatens her and warns her never to eavesdrop on him again.

Against that frightening backdrop, Dana later asks Harper to be her maid of honour. The sisters celebrate with champagne, giving Dana a special moment with Harper while neither the wedding nor the danger surrounding Beau is anywhere near as secure as Dana believes.

The contrast between the sisters’ situations could hardly be greater. Dana is looking ahead to a wedding and imagining Harper standing beside her, while Harper is trying to hide a bruise and navigate Beau’s increasingly intimidating behaviour.

Dana also unknowingly gives Beau information that leads him directly towards Remi. After hearing that Sonny and Remi are at Salt, Beau heads there and confronts Remi over what he has been saying before ordering his associates to deal with him.

For Harper, the maid of honour request is a reminder of the life and family support still surrounding her even as Beau attempts to tighten his control. Dana may not yet understand what her sister is facing, but their closeness could become increasingly important if Harper reaches the point where she feels able to reveal the truth.
