Grindr is putting its plan to connect 10 million LGBTQ+ people with HIV prevention services on a major international stage as the dating and social networking app expands its work beyond simply raising awareness.

Grindr sponsored the Clinton Global Initiative 2026 Annual Meeting in New York, where chairman and CEO George Arison had been announced for its mainstage programme.

Grindr said ahead of the event that George was scheduled to join the “Getting Disruption Right” session on September 23, where his participation was expected to include discussion of the company’s commitment to HIV prevention.

Behind that appearance is a much bigger target. Grindr for Equality has committed to connecting 10 million LGBTQ+ people to HIV prevention by 2028, using the enormous reach of the app to help people find information and services available where they live.

Around 15 million people use Grindr each month across 190 countries and territories.

The company wants users to have a direct route from the app to locally available HIV prevention services, including information and referrals for HIV testing and PrEP, working alongside local nonprofits, clinics and community organisations.

There is already significant work behind the target. More than 600,000 HIV self-tests have been distributed through Grindr since 2022, while Grindr for Equality ran more than 1,200 in-app campaigns during 2025 with 185 community organisations operating across 71 countries and 40 languages.

The initiative comes as Grindr’s own research has highlighted a continuing gap between people knowing about PrEP and actually being able to access it.

That makes the 10 million target about more than showing people information. Grindr is increasingly using a platform millions already open regularly to direct LGBTQ+ users towards real-world health services and community organisations.
