Gavin & Stacey duo reunite for huge new series The Choir

Ruth Jones and James Corden are officially reuniting for a new eight-part comedy drama, and they have assembled a huge cast for their first television project together since Gavin & Stacey: The Finale.

The Choir is now in production for Apple TV, with Jones and Corden playing estranged siblings Lisa and Ben. Hannah Waddingham, James McAvoy and Jim Broadbent have also been confirmed as guest stars.

What is The Choir about?

Ben has spent years living abroad while Lisa remained in their small English hometown, where seemingly little happens. The brother and sister have not seen each other for years, but circumstances eventually force Ben to return to the family and place he deliberately left behind.

A struggling local choir could provide the unlikely route towards repairing their relationship, with the series promising a story about family, friendship, love and music.

The supporting cast is equally impressive. Tom Davis, Jason Watkins, David Harewood, Susan Brown, Rosie Sheehy, Alexandria Riley, Sylvestra Le Touzel, Gary Lamont and Emily Lloyd-Saini are among those joining Jones and Corden.

The series marks the pair's first project together since Gavin & Stacey: The Finale. That Christmas 2024 special brought the BBC comedy to an end, meaning The Choir is a completely new story rather than another extension of Barry and Billericay.

Jones and Corden are also executive producers, while Jennifer Sheridan and Jim Archer will direct.

The Choir will premiere globally on Apple TV in 2027, although an exact release date has not yet been announced.
