Flunk Season 7 Expands Its LGBTQ+ Love Stories as Season 8 Is Confirmed

Australian LGBTQ+ drama Flunk is giving viewers more relationship stories to follow, with the complete seventh season now available and an eighth season officially on the way.

Season 7 puts Kerri and Beth’s relationship at the heart of the story while also developing Wade and Leo’s connection. It is another expansion for an independent series that has grown into a much larger collection of LGBTQ+ films and television stories.

Kerri and Beth face new relationship problems

Keira O’Connor returns as Kerri alongside Harriette St Ledger as Beth, with Season 7 exploring what happens after the excitement of getting together begins to meet the realities of maintaining a relationship.

Kerri attempts to strengthen their relationship by helping Beth stage a school play. However, jealousy becomes a problem when Beth grows closer to one of her co stars, leaving Kerri struggling with insecurity and trust.

The storyline continues directly from Lost & Found You, Detention with Daisy and Flunk Season 6, allowing Kerri and Beth’s relationship to develop across several parts of the wider Flunk universe.

Ruby and Daisy are also back, while Season 7 expands its LGBTQ+ representation through Wade and Leo. Wade struggles with feelings he has been reluctant to confront, with his growing connection to Leo eventually leading to a kiss.

Actor Brad McCarthy, who plays Wade, has spoken about the character finally beginning to accept his feelings after putting pressure on himself to hide them.

Flunk has built an expanding LGBTQ+ universe

Created by Australian production company Lilydale Films, Flunk has developed far beyond its original series.

Its growing collection includes several seasons alongside films such as The Sleepover, After School, The Exchange, Lost & Found You, Detention with Daisy, 4 First Dates and Preferences. Characters and relationships can move between different productions, creating interconnected stories rather than completely separate films and series.

Lilydale Films describes Flunk as a young adult series exploring sexuality, identity, consent and relationships. The company says the series has accumulated more than 200 million views on YouTube.

Season 7 consists of six half hour episodes, with the current complete edition also including cast interviews and episode reaction videos.

Flunk Season 8 is officially coming

There is already more ahead. Lilydale Films announced on 28 May 2026 that production was underway on Flunk Season 8, with Kerri and Beth once again leading the story.

The next season will see Kerri preparing to meet Beth’s mother for the first time. Beth will also become increasingly concerned about Kerri’s friendship with her co worker Ruby, bringing further questions about trust and insecurity into their relationship.

Wade’s story will continue too. Season 8 will follow Wade and Florence as they attempt to repair their relationship after Wade reveals that he is bisexual.

Keira O’Connor, Harriette St Ledger and Olivia Wright are confirmed among the returning cast, with Brad McCarthy, Jaz Balmer and Brett Whittingham in supporting roles. Ric Forster returns as writer and director, with Melanie Rowland producing.

Importantly, there is now a release window. Lilydale Films says Season 8 will launch in early 2028, initially for Flunk YouTube channel members before receiving a wider YouTube release later that year.

UK viewers can access the series online, with the complete Season 7 available through Vimeo On Demand and to Flunk YouTube channel members. The wider Flunk universe can also be found across platforms including YouTube, Vimeo, Amazon and Tubi, although availability varies between individual titles.

As an independently produced LGBTQ+ series, Flunk also directly encourages its audience to support future productions through rentals, purchases and channel memberships.

With Season 8 already confirmed, Kerri, Beth, Wade and the wider group still have considerably more story ahead.
