Emmerdale Not On Tuesday 25 August: Reason Revealed
Emmerdale will not air this coming Tuesday, 25th August, as Carabao Cup football takes over ITV during a huge week for Dawn, Joe and Billy.
Emmerdale will be missing from ITV this coming Tuesday, 25th August, with the village making way for a night of live Carabao Cup football. The interruption comes during a particularly dramatic week for Dawn, Joe and Billy, making the timing impossible for soap fans to miss.
Nottingham Forest host Leeds United at the City Ground in an all Premier League second round clash, with ITV’s coverage beginning at 7.30pm. Kick off is at 8pm, putting the match directly into Emmerdale’s usual place in the evening schedule.
Why is Emmerdale not on Tuesday?
ITV is dedicating the evening to the cup tie, which will be presented by Mark Pougatch with commentary from Sam Matterface and Lucy Ward and reports from Gabriel Clarke. Nottingham Forest and Leeds will already know each other particularly well after also meeting in the Premier League just days earlier.
The football could potentially extend beyond its expected finish if penalties are required. Listings warn that subsequent programmes may run late or change in that event, although Emmerdale itself is already absent from Tuesday’s schedule.
A huge week is already unfolding
The timing comes as Dawn secretly prepares to leave Joe and make a new start with Billy. Caleb becomes involved by helping Billy financially, while Dawn struggles with the guilt surrounding what she is planning.
Joe remains unaware of what is developing behind his back as preparations surrounding his future with Dawn continue. Billy also has his own concerns, leaving their secret plan increasingly vulnerable.
What happens after the football?
Things become even more dangerous when Graham discovers what Dawn and Billy are planning. Dawn becomes desperate to keep her plans from collapsing, while Caleb’s actions threaten to expose the truth to Joe.
Jimmy also discovers that Caleb and Ruby have deceived him over the haulage business. The village is then rocked by a serious incident, with Ramsden becoming involved as the consequences begin to unfold.
Emmerdale may be missing for one night, but viewers will return to a storyline moving rapidly towards major consequences. The football simply creates a brief pause before the drama continues.
