Jimmy King leaves behind an unexpected mystery in Emmerdale when Carl makes a surprising discovery while preparing a tribute to his late father.
Carl wants to create a video for Jimmy’s funeral and turns to his father’s laptop for material. What begins as an emotional attempt to remember his dad takes an unexpected turn when he discovers secret voice messages stored on the computer.
Nicola is soon drawn into the discovery. The timing could hardly be more difficult for the family. Nicola is already dealing with the revelation that Vinny caused the crash that killed Jimmy, meaning she is being forced to process new information about her husband’s death while still grieving him.
The voice messages now create a completely different question. Jimmy is no longer there to explain why they exist, leaving Nicola and Carl with something unexpected from his life that they need to understand for themselves.
Exactly what the messages contain remains unknown. Their discovery alone, however, is enough to turn Carl’s funeral tribute into another mystery surrounding his father.
That makes the laptop particularly significant because Carl was never looking for a secret. He simply wanted to find something that would help him celebrate Jimmy’s life, only to uncover material that had apparently been kept private.
For Nicola, it means Jimmy still has the ability to surprise her even after his death. With the truth surrounding the crash finally emerging and the messages now waiting to be understood, she could be about to discover something about her husband she never knew.
