EastEnders' Zoe Risks Making Things Worse as She Tries to Reunite Josh and Jasmine
Zoe Slater has been through heartbreak, family secrets and shocking discoveries since returning to Albert Square, but her latest challenge could prove to be one of the most emotional yet. After months of tension between twins Josh and Jasmine, Zoe decides enough is enough and comes up with a plan to bring them back together during Walford Pride.
It is an ambitious idea, especially considering everything that has happened between the siblings. Their relationship has been left in tatters following the fallout involving Oscar Branning, whose romance with both twins created one of Walford's most complicated love triangles.
For Zoe, the breakdown in Josh and Jasmine's relationship is particularly painful. Having only recently discovered her son was alive after believing he had died as a baby, she refuses to watch her reunited family fall apart without trying to help.
How Oscar became the centre of the family feud
The current storyline has its roots several months earlier when Oscar and Jasmine began dating.
Their relationship faced challenges from the beginning. Jasmine confided in Oscar that Max Branning had tried to kiss her, while the family was also dealing with the growing tension surrounding Anthony Trueman.
Events took a devastating turn when Anthony attacked Zoe and Jasmine. Jasmine killed Anthony in self defence while protecting herself and her mother and was subsequently arrested. Charged with his murder, Jasmine was sent to prison while the police investigated what had happened.
Oscar struggled to cope with Jasmine's arrest and threw himself into nights out and partying as he tried to deal with the shock. However, he later discovered evidence that Anthony's death had been an act of self defence. Armed with that knowledge, Oscar visited Jasmine in prison, where the pair reconciled and shared a kiss, seemingly putting their relationship back on track.
At that point, neither of them could have imagined how dramatically things were about to change.
Josh arrived without knowing the truth
Everything shifted when Josh Goodwin arrived in Walford.
After accidentally spilling a milkshake over Josh, Oscar later bumped into him again at The Prince Albert. The two men quickly formed a connection and shared a kiss. Crucially, neither of them knew who the other really was.
During their conversations they even discussed Jasmine, completely unaware that Josh was her twin brother. Their attraction continued to grow and they later slept together, believing they were simply starting a new relationship.
As the weeks passed, Oscar found himself spending time with both Jasmine and Josh while wrestling with his growing feelings. There were moments when he tried to distance himself from Josh, determined to save his relationship with Jasmine, but the attraction between the two men refused to disappear.
Following another disagreement between the twins, Josh and Oscar met for a drink at The Prince Albert and agreed it would be best if they stayed away from one another. Instead, they kissed again and spent the night together.
The birthday dinner changed things
The secret could never stay hidden forever.
During Josh and Jasmine's birthday dinner, Josh realised he could no longer keep lying to his sister. In front of their family, he admitted that he and Oscar were in a relationship.
The revelation left Jasmine devastated. Not only had she discovered her former boyfriend had fallen for her own twin brother, but both men had kept the truth from her until she learned about it in the most public way possible.
The fallout destroyed the relationship between Josh and Jasmine, leaving Zoe watching helplessly as the family she had fought so hard to rebuild began falling apart once again.
Why Zoe refuses to give up
Josh and Jasmine are the children of Zoe Slater and Anthony Trueman, but for years Zoe believed she would never know her son.
It was only at Christmas 2025 that she discovered Josh had survived as a baby, opening the door to a relationship she had never expected to have. That history explains why Zoe is so determined to repair the damage.
She understands Jasmine's hurt, but she also knows how precious it is simply to have both of her children in her life. Rather than choosing sides, she wants them to remember they are family before anything else.
New scenes see Zoe hoping Walford Pride can provide the perfect opportunity for Josh and Jasmine to finally talk face to face. Whether either twin is ready to forgive is another matter entirely.
There could still be another chapter for Josh and Oscar
Although Josh's immediate priority is repairing his relationship with Jasmine, that does not necessarily mean his story with Oscar is over.
Speaking about the storyline, Joshua Vaughan has suggested that Josh and Oscar are not completely finished as a couple. However, he has also made it clear that Josh came to Walford to find his sister, and putting things right with Jasmine now comes first.
If Josh and Jasmine can begin rebuilding their relationship, it could finally allow the family to move forward after months of heartbreak. If Zoe's plan fails, however, the wounds left by Oscar's complicated love triangle may prove far more difficult to heal than she ever imagined.
