EastEnders' Sheila pushes Chelsea too far as Denise's fears grow
Denise becomes increasingly concerned as Sheila wins Chelsea's trust and begins testing boundaries with Jordan in EastEnders.
Sheila's grip on Chelsea grows stronger in upcoming EastEnders scenes, leaving Denise fearing that her family is being pulled apart just when they need each other most.
While Denise continues concentrating on her leukaemia treatment, she becomes increasingly uneasy about the influence Sheila is having over Chelsea and Jordan. Although Chelsea believes she has found someone she can rely on, Denise is convinced there is far more going on beneath the surface.
As the days pass, Sheila works hard to position herself as a trusted figure in Chelsea's life. By offering practical help and emotional support, she gradually lowers Chelsea's defences, making it easier to become a regular presence around the family.
Chelsea begins seeing Sheila as someone who genuinely wants to help. From her perspective, Sheila appears caring and dependable during a particularly difficult period, especially while Denise remains focused on her recovery.
Denise, however, sees a very different picture.
She has never fully trusted Sheila and becomes increasingly alarmed as Chelsea spends more time with her. The more involved Sheila becomes, the stronger Denise's concerns grow that her true intentions are not as innocent as they appear.
One of Denise's biggest worries centres on Jordan.
Despite Chelsea initially having reservations about allowing Sheila to spend time with him, those concerns slowly begin to fade as Sheila continues earning her trust. Before long, she is looking after Jordan alone, giving her greater access to the family than Denise is comfortable with.
Denise believes Sheila is carefully pushing boundaries rather than overstepping them all at once. That gradual approach makes it much harder for Chelsea to recognise what is happening.
Her fears appear to gain fresh weight when Sheila begins encouraging Jordan to keep a secret.
The moment immediately raises alarm bells for Denise, who believes adults should never ask children to hide things from those closest to them. While Chelsea struggles to understand why her mother is reacting so strongly, Denise feels her instincts are telling her something is seriously wrong.
The disagreement only widens the growing divide between mother and daughter.
Chelsea becomes frustrated that Denise refuses to give Sheila the benefit of the doubt, while Denise feels Chelsea is overlooking several warning signs because she wants to believe the best in her.
Caught in the middle is Patrick, who has just returned to Walford and quickly notices the tension running through the family.
Patrick hopes he can calm the situation and encourage everyone to listen to each other before relationships are damaged beyond repair. However, with Sheila continuing to strengthen her position, finding common ground may prove easier said than done.
As Denise continues fighting for her health, the last thing she wants is another battle inside her own family. Yet unless Chelsea begins questioning Sheila's motives, Denise may find herself watching events unfold with very little power to stop them.
