Czechia Launches First LGBTQ+ Radio Station as Radio Q Goes Live

Czechia has launched its first radio station created specifically for the LGBTQ+ community, with Radio Q beginning broadcasts from Prague on 9 September.

The new station combines music, culture and LGBTQ+ programming, while promising a platform that is open to everyone regardless of age, identity or background.

Radio Q began broadcasting online at 9am and is operated by European People & Media, the organisation behind the existing WorldRadio project.

The team says the station has been created to bring together entertainment, education and music while providing space for LGBTQ+ voices and experiences that are not always heard elsewhere.

The station is initially concentrating heavily on international music, with Czech and Slovak music expected to become a bigger part of the schedule as Radio Q develops. Interviews, podcasts, discussions and more hosted programming are also planned as the service grows.

Topics planned for Radio Q include health and prevention, coming out, relationships, transgender experiences, prejudice and stigma. The station also intends to work with experts from areas including psychology, healthcare and social services to provide informative programming alongside its entertainment output.

Programming currently begins with Morning Pride from 6am, followed later by LGBTQ+ discussion and podcast strand Queer Life at 6pm, with Deep Good taking over from 7pm. Radio Q says it is broadcasting live from Prague around the clock and currently carries no advertising between songs.

Where can you listen to Radio Q?

For now, Radio Q is an online-only station, so listeners do not need to be in Czechia to tune in.

The station can be streamed directly through the Radio Q website using its Listen Live player, while Radio Prague International also confirms that the service is available through the MyOnlineRadio platform.

Radio Q is not currently available on DAB+.

The station says nationwide DAB+ broadcasting is its long-term aim, with programme director René confirming that Radio Q plans to move into digital terrestrial radio during 2027. That would significantly increase its reach across Czechia beyond its current internet-only launch.

The launch gives Czechia its first dedicated LGBTQ+ radio service and creates a new space for music, community stories, health information and conversations about LGBTQ+ life.

With online listening available internationally from day one and national DAB+ expansion already being planned, Radio Q is aiming to develop into a much bigger platform over the coming year.
