Coronation Street’s Lisa steps in after Kit loses control

Coming up on Coronation Street, Kit wants to continue working while receiving chemotherapy, but the strain is becoming difficult to conceal. Kits supervisor Lisa must balance respecting his independence with recognising when carrying on is no longer helping him.

Kit’s breast cancer diagnosis has brought concern from several directions. At home, Bernie is frightened for her son, while conversations about the family’s genetic test results mean his illness is rarely far from anyone’s thoughts.

Bernie tries to make sure Kit eats properly and looks after himself. Her intentions are caring, but he feels increasingly suffocated by the attention and frustrated at being treated differently.

Dev recognises that he needs a break from the conversations at home and suggests going for a curry. Kit appreciates the offer, although Dev also encourages him to understand why Bernie is being protective.

However, continuing at the station becomes more difficult when an exhausted Kit refuses Lisa’s advice to go home. A distressed woman coughs over him in the waiting area, and he loses his temper.

Kirk comforts the woman before telling Bernie, Brody and Dev what he witnessed. Brody points out that Kit is undergoing chemotherapy and needs to take care of himself.

Lisa subsequently tells Kit that he must take sick leave, being a good boss, concerned for his health, but this prompts a furious response.
