ITV has announced Code Zero, a six-part police thriller starring Faye Marsay that begins with a new recruit’s first day going dangerously wrong. A bank heist leaves the young officer fearing for his life and sparks an urgent search for him and the stolen money.
The Andor and Adolescence actress plays police sergeant Laura, who is put in charge of showing newcomer Cal the ropes. Practical, funny and dependable, she is the kind of officer people would want arriving when they call for help.
Cal, played by Sekou Diaby, barely has time to settle into his new role before the pair become caught up in a carefully planned robbery. When he presses his emergency button, the officers answering his call are drawn into events that will have consequences for them all.
That emergency signal gives the drama its name. A Code Zero means a Police officer is in immediate danger and needs urgent assistance, with the pivotal call coming in the opening episode.
For Laura, the investigation becomes more than a search for the people behind the heist. As she and her team work to uncover the truth, the consequences begin affecting her personal life in ways she could never have expected.
Rachel Shenton also joins the cast as Gemma, alongside Brendan Coyle as Phil and Sion Daniel Young as Darrell. Other cast members include Aneurin Barnard, Anthony Welsh, Steven Cree and Christine Adams.
The series comes from Two Brothers Pictures, whose previous productions include The Tourist, The Assassin and Fleabag.
