Celebrity Traitors star faces grotesque scorpion murder in new thriller
Celebrity Traitors star Sharon Rooney investigates a horrifying dinner-table murder involving four bodies and a scorpion in new drama An Impossible Way to Die.
Sharon Rooney is swapping Celebrity Traitors for something considerably more gruesome as first-look images reveal her new murder mystery An Impossible Way to Die.
Rooney plays DS Katie Salter opposite Emmett J. Scanlan's DI Niall Conway in the new six-part crime drama, and their first case certainly isn't easing them in gently.
Four bodies and one very disturbing clue
Police are called to a house where four people have been found dead around a dinner table.
As if that isn't disturbing enough, a scorpion crawls from the mouth of one of the victims, leaving Conway and Salter trying to understand how the bizarre scene was created and what connects those who died.
The investigation becomes even stranger when apparently unrelated cases begin showing links to one another.
Rooney will be particularly familiar to viewers currently watching her navigate suspicion, alliances and round-table accusations on Celebrity Traitors. Her new role puts her on the opposite side of the mystery, attempting to work out who is lying rather than convincing Claudia Winkleman she is telling the truth.
Scanlan, meanwhile, is well known for roles including Kin, The Tower and Hollyoaks.
The first images show the pair together as their new detective partnership takes shape, but 5 is keeping the answers to that grotesque opening mystery firmly under wraps.
An Impossible Way to Die will air on 5 in 2027, with an exact transmission date still to be announced.
